Automatic Block Release
Automatic Block Release is a feature where users determined to be bots and blocked automatically return to normal users after a set time.
Overview
After the time set by the administrator has elapsed, when a blocked user requests reconnection, they are automatically converted to a normal user.
How It Works
Block and Release Flow
Processing by Status
| Status | User Type | Access Request Result |
|---|---|---|
| Blocked | Bot | Processed according to action mode |
| After Release | Normal | Pass |
If access requests violate policies again after block release, they will be determined to be bots and processed according to action mode.
Threshold Counting
Counting Maintained When Policy is On/Off
Threshold counting is maintained even if you deactivate and then reactivate a policy.
Example:
- Block policy applied: 5 accesses per day
- User makes 3 access requests (counting: 3)
- Administrator turns policy Off
- Administrator turns policy On (counting: 3 maintained)
- User makes 2 more accesses → Blocked (total 5)
Counting Reset After Automatic Release
When returning to normal user through automatic block release, threshold counting is reset.
Example:
- Block policy set: 5 accesses per day
- User makes 5 accesses → Blocked
- Automatic block release time elapsed → Return to normal user
- Counting on reconnection = 1 (not 6)
Release Time Configuration
Default Value
- Default Automatic Block Release Time: 20 minutes
Configuration Method
You can set individual automatic block release times for each policy.
- Navigate to the policy list in the BotManager console
- Select the policy to configure
- Set the time in the Automatic Bot Release item
- Save
Configuration Options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Disabled | No automatic release (manual release required) |
| Time Setting | Automatic release after specified time |
Time Accumulation Rules
Automatic block release time does not accumulate.
Example:
- Automatic block release time: 20 minutes
- User is blocked (T=0)
- Re-blocked for same policy violation after 10 minutes (T=10)
- Time remaining until automatic release: 10 minutes (not 30 minutes)
Once an automatic block release time is applied, it is not reset or added to until that time has fully elapsed.
Application Scope
Automatic block release can be applied to all policy types:
- Static policies (automation tools, header analysis, IP management, etc.)
- Behavior analysis policies (access frequency, access patterns, etc.)
